Free Styling With the Sisters

This week we decided to create our own criteria for a challenge.  We decided to make cards using Penny Black stamps we’d been given for Christmas and not yet used.  We’ve included thank-you and birthday cards so let’s get started.

This is my note card sized thank-you card with a cute hedgehog from my new Penny Black set Wonderful.  I’ve used my Lil’ Inkers die Silly  Stitched to outline my circle and scraps of paper from Stampin’ Up that were lying around my workspace.  Using an aqua painter I colored this image with SU inks:  Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, Real Red, & a bit of Smokey Slate.  The sentiment is from SU’s Vertical Greetings.

Next is Karen’s birthday card using her new Penny Black stamp from U R the Gift.  It’s also colored with an aqua painter using SU inks:  Wisteria Wonder,  Real Red, Pink Pirouette, & just a touch of Early Expresso.  The sentiment is from Simon Says’ Birthday Celebrations.

Finally we have another Thank-You card this time from Robyn.  The image is from Penny Black’s Smile All Day collection.  Once again colored with an aqua painter with inks not known.  Her paper is from a Recollections pad called Holiday Lodge.

We hope you will have time to do some card making soon and perhaps something we’ve shared will inspire you.  Thanks for stopping by.

Slip Sliding into Christmas for CYCI #143

This week two of the “Sisters” slid over to the Can You Case It? site for this week’s sketch challenge.  With all of the wintery weather around us just now it was a pleasure to be able to stay in where it is warm and safe creating cards for you.  Robyn and I hope you enjoy our cards:

Robyn’s card features Penny Black’s  A Thorny Affair stamp with a hedgehog and festive holly sprig as her focal point.  She fussy cut the image and used a paper pack sheet from My Mind’s Eye.

My card features a sweet snowman from Whipper Snapper designs.  It’s colored with an aqua painter using Smoky Slate, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie inks from Stampin’ Up.   The card base is Wisteria Wonder cardstock also from SU.

That does it for this week. Karen promises to join us next week with more fun ideas.  If you’d like to check more projects from CYCI click here.

Wishing you peace and joy this Holiday Season!

CASE This Sketch #201

With no Mojo Monday challenge for the next few weeks we were excited to join the challenge at CASE This Sketch. Here are our cards for last week’s challenge.  I’m a little late in getting this posted so the sketch does not match this week’s challenge, but we wanted to share our creations with you anyway.  We hope you enjoy them.  Here is the design we followed:

Robyn’s card showcases Stampin Up  products (Christmas Pines).  With many layers creating softness and depth, and a bit of silver sparkle her card is a welcome addition for the Holidays.

Karen’s card is full of holly and a clever JOY diecut.  Both diecuts ( Joy & holly sprig) are Memory Box.  Her paper is retired Stampin’ Up, and the embossing folder is Tim Holtz’s (Alterations).  The inside sentiment is from Beccy’s Place (Christmas Bells stamp set).

Here is my simple card.  It uses three of my favorite holiday stamps unfortunately all retired.  The embossing/diecut is not retired however, and is from Li’l Inkers (Silly Stiched).  Just a little tip,  this set cuts and ‘stitches’ the rectangle only.  You must cut out the circle with a separate die.

We hope you saw something that inspires you to get a few cards created before the holidays get here.  Thanks for spending a bit of this busy time of year with us.

Getting Ready for Christmas Day for Mojo #477

The Snipin’ Sisters were up bright and early this morning ready to tackle this week’s Mojo challenge.  Even though it was pretty early for part of the trio, we all commented on how much we enjoy our Monday gatherings via FaceTime.   We get to create in out PJs, drink our favorite warm beverage, and chat away from our own work spaces.   Does life get much better?  Here is the sketch we used:

There are two views of Karen’s card this week as it is a version of a gatefold style and is so clever and a great interpretation of the sketch.  With paper from My Mind’s Eye (Comfort & Joy), a sweet die from Memory Box called Joy Tag, and plenty of warm mittens punched with her mitten punch Karen has created a great card.

This is Robyn’s fun creation.  It’s actually the second card she created as she didn’t think her first card photographed that well.  This sure is a cutie with the fun reindeer from Great Impressions and some holiday DSP from Stampin’ Up called This Christmas Specialty.  She colored her image with her aqua painter I’m thinking, and added some sweet snowflake buttons for embelishment.   Very fun!

Here is my interpretation of this week’s sketch.  I also used DSP from SU, however I’m not certain which collection it’s from.  It is the same sheet, just reversed.  What do you think of the center stitching?  It’s a new die cut for me from Lil’ Inkers called Silly Stiched Diecut.  The simple sentiment is an old set from The Cat’s Pajamas with a bit of SU’s Old Olive and Pistachio Pudding ink to color the wreath.  The pearl embelishment in the corner is from SU too.

That does it for this week.  We will be taking a break from our Mojo challenges for a few weeks, but check in in the mean time to see what’s going on with the gang.  There might even be some holiday decor ideas from us as we get ready for Christmas Day!
