Yea! It’s time again for our Monday challenge with the group over at http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com. Here is the sketch we worked from this week:
There were lots of layers this week and the Three Amis were up for a good stretch of our creative talents. We create our cards separately and through the internet have a “show & tell” of sorts upon completion. Here are our cards:
Karen chose some great summer colors that work well together. Her embossing of the purple and green papers give this card depth and interest. The DSP is from Recollection’s Watercolor Dots and the embossing folders are all from Sizzix. The circles are from her 1″, 1 1/2″, 2″, and 21/2″ Stampin’ Up punches. She even lined her envelope circles. That attention to detail is what sets her card apart.
Robyn’s card is all about summer too with her honeycomb looking background and cute bees. The background papers were from the scrap box and the great ribbon was from a gift she had received from her daughter. (Robyn is a great saver of unusual ribbons and paper.) The bee paper is English Garden from Stampin’ Up as are the stamps, 6-Sided Samples, and she used her SU hexagon punch to cut them out. If you look closely you will see a small wooden bee from Creatology. More great attention to detail!
Finally, my card is a more graphic interpretation of this week’s sketch. I used white cardstock as my base scoring the bottom half at 1/4″ increments with my scoreboard. (If you look closely you will just be able to see it.) I then used Stampin’ Up’s Everyday Chic DSP and Papertrey Ink’s Squiggles diecut for the black embellishments. My sentiment is SU’s Watercolor Words stamped in Real Red. I simply fussy-cut the ‘hope’ and popped it up on dimensionals.
We hope you enjoyed our creations and will check out more great designs at the Mojo Monday site.
Thanks for visiting!
